Specialist and co-curricular programs

Education in the performing and visual arts is a key part of the curriculum in the school’s program where opportunities are provided for students to participate in a range of activities beyond the normal class curriculum.

Most of these activities occur outside of normal class time, with rehearsals and practices occurring before or after school or during the lunch break.

Specialist Art Teacher

A specialist art teacher provides a sequential program from Kindergarten to Year 6. The artist-in-residence provides a program that exposes students to a broader range of visual arts media and techniques.

Music ensembles

The school offers an array of bands, choirs, string and jazz ensembles and orchestra designed to cater to the interests of students. Many of these ensembles are graded to allow musicians to work together at the appropriate level of performance. These ensembles have many performance opportunities throughout the year.

Private music tuition

The school’s Music Committee offers the services of qualified musicians and tutors to provide private tuition in many instruments.

Sport

All students have two sessions of fundamental movement skills each week over the school year and one session of gymnastics each week over one term. In addition, students in Years 3-6 participate in Friday sport. Sports options include, cricket, softball, soccer, Oztag and netball.

Debating

Each year the school selects teams that compete against other schools throughout the year. Successful teams go on to compete at regional and state levels.

Public speaking

Each year the school and selects representatives to compete against students from other schools.

Chess Club

The school provides chess coaching at lunch time each week.
