Extra-curricular music program
For many years, LPS has earned a strong reputation for its excellent music program. Our program consists of a number of string ensembles, bands and choirs, led by a group of dedicated teachers, conductors and parent volunteers. Some of Sydney’s best music educators lead our ensembles and conduct one-on-one lessons with students before and after school.
Musical education enhances academic skills in mathematics, reading, and critical thinking. It builds social skills, as playing in an ensemble fosters teamwork and communication. Mastering a musical instrument can also improve self-esteem and perseverance.
Members of the LPS Music Program will develop skills in ensemble playing, music reading and building friendships with other musicians. They will have many exciting opportunities including taking part in our annual Music Weekend Workshops and regular performance opportunities at school, Sydney Town Hall and even the Opera House!
Music program members are asked to pay an ensemble fee and instrument hiring fee, if applicable, each term. Tuition fees for tutorials are paid directly to the tutor. All students who hire instruments and/or have tutorials at school are part of our ensemble program.
